The Royal Bahamas
Police Force is under the direction of the Commissioner of
Police. The current acting commissioner is:
Reginald Ferguson,
Q.P.M.
Acting Commissioner Reginald
Ferguson directs the Royal Bahamas Police Force from
Police Headquarters in Nassau, New Providence. The Commissioner of Police is responsible to the
Minister of National Security, currently the Honourable Tommy
Turnquest. A Deputy Commissioner and
several Senior Assistant and Assistant Commissioners with
varying areas of responsibility support the commissioner in his
role.

Reginald Ferguson brings to
the office of Commissioner of Police over forty years of
policing experience which has included all areas of law
enforcement. Highly regarded and respected in policing circles, both
at home and abroad, Commissioner Ferguson has also
been honoured by Queen Elizabeth II with the Queen's Police
Medal for Distinguished Service. He also holds the Bahamas Police
Medal for Meritorious Service and the Long Service and Good Conduct
medal.
GRAND BAHAMA AND
NORTHERN BAHAMAS REGION

Grand
Bahama, Abaco, Berry Islands and Bimini form the Grand Bahama and
Northern Bahamas Region and is under the direction of
Assistant Commissioner of Police Eugene
Cartwright, who is based in Freeport, Grand Bahama.
Mr Cartwright brings over 38 years of policing experience to his
post as Officer-in-Charge of the Northern Bahamas. ACP Cartwright
joined the Bahamas' colonial police service in 1969, four years
before The Bahamas achieved its politcal independence from Great
Britain. Throughout his extensive career he has worked in many areas
of the police service. He is assisted in his responsibilities by
Chief Supt Basil Rahming, Chief Supt Emrick Seymour and
Superintendent Clyde Nixon.
BIMINI DIVISION

Kevin Mortimer, Chief Inspector of
Police, is the Officer-in-Charge of the Bimini
Division. Mr Mortimer brings to this position a
quarter-century of policing skills and experience which has included
service on several Family Islands namely, Andros District, Eleuthera
District, and Cat Island District as officer-in-charge and also
Grand Bahama and the Northern Bahamas District.
The chief inspector was
transferred to Grand Bahama and the Northern Bahamas District in
December 2000 and worked as second in command at Mobile Division and
officer-in-charge of the Traffic Division. He was later appointed
Officer-in-Charge and Training Manager for the Police Training
College in Grand Bahama (first recruits trained outside New
Providence). This post was held from the establishment of the
satellite college in 2003 until his transfer to Bimini
Division.
Mr Mortimer is a certified
Disaster Management Instructor. He was promoted to the rank of
Inspector in 1999 and to Chief Inspector in 2007. He is the holder
of the Long Service and Good Conduct Medal and the Police
Meritorious Service Medal.
